Your tax credit.

The $1 Million Scholarship Challenge
for CUES Schools

Beginning January 1, 2027, a new federal tax credit will allow eligible taxpayers to support K-12 scholarships through Opportunity Scholarships of Nebraska (OSN).

When making your contribution to OSN, you can designate a significant portion of your gift to benefit eligible students attending the CUES schools of All Saints, Holy Name, and Sacred Heart.

By choosing to support CUES students, you can help us reach our $1 million scholarship challenge while qualifying for a dollar-for-dollar federal income tax credit of up to $1,700 for individuals or $3,400 for married couples filing jointly.

Express interest now. Qualifying contributions begin in 2027.

Your questions, answered

A clearer path to participation.

How is a tax credit different from a deduction?

A credit reduces federal income tax liability dollar for dollar; a deduction reduces taxable income. This credit is nonrefundable and subject to eligibility and federal tax liability limits. Consult your tax advisor.

Can my contribution support students at CUES schools?

OSN anticipates allowing a significant portion of a contribution to support students choosing a preferred school, as the law allows. Allocations are subject to OSN policies and program rules. Contributors cannot select an individual scholarship recipient.

Who can receive a scholarship?

Eligible students must qualify to enroll in a public K-12 school and come from households with income no greater than 300% of the area's median gross income. OSN will determine eligibility under applicable rules.

When can I make a qualifying contribution?

The federal credit begins January 1, 2027. Contributions must be made to an approved scholarship granting organization. Confirm OSN approval and contribution instructions before giving; a general gift directly to CUES is not a qualifying SGO contribution.

Do I have to contribute the full amount?

No. Smaller qualifying contributions can also help move the campaign toward its goal. The 589-individual and 295-household examples assume contributions of $1,700 and $3,400 respectively; a mix of supporters can reach the same goal.

Be part of what comes next.

Help turn a new tax credit into new opportunities for students at All Saints, Holy Name, and Sacred Heart.

The campaign goal measures contributions through OSN, not a guarantee that the full amount will be allocated to CUES students. Tax-credit eligibility and scholarship allocations are subject to applicable rules and SGO requirements. Consult your tax advisor.
